Dear America, I am utterly in love with our racial tension. And I shudder to think of my life without it. Our racial tension is sweet and intoxicating. I confess, not only am I smitten with it, I find it insatiably addicting. In the face of racial tension, my knees are weak and I do not ever want to live without it. Or else what would I do with my time? How could I live with you?

Sincerely, Savior and Victim.

We avoid change like it’s it is a painful affliction.

Why do we eat? Why do we wash our hands? Why do we scratch? Because we’re hungry, they’re dirty, and we itch. We seek remedies to improve our condition. Remedies require change.

I’m not going to name the latest regularly scheduled racial tension news story. Because in six months there’ll be another one to take its place, compliments of the MSM. But I will say this, several bloggers have wisely pointed out that we citizens are once again being played like fiddles by the MSM.

This is our world. We’re not children anymore. We have to see our roles in every aspect of America’s changes. Should I scratch that itch for you? Should I feed you? Or might you want me to wash some part of your body? If you do, consider there may be something seriously wrong with you because that’s not adult or normal thinking.

And for those who believe the “little guys” are in perpetual need of your help to defend them against the “big guys,” there may be something really wrong with you too.

The “victim” and “savior” are simply roles some of us like to play. Change comes whether you’re on board with it or not. Change disables control and may cause confusion. But so does learning to ski, surf or riding a bike. Once we adjust, it is an exhilarating feeling!

Did 1950s America know what 1990s America was going to look and feel like? How did we get there? A number of different ways, but the most popular route was by individuals making changes in their thinking.

It’s 2012. Stop acting like it’s not. People die every day. No one death is more significant than the other. Are you the player or are you being played? It’s likely you’re part of our silent majority, living your lives and occasionally noticing the players.

Well I have a message for the players, saviors as well as victims. Maybe today’s not your day. But one of these days, your light bulb is going to flicker on and you’re going to realize that all along, everyone has simply been living their lives. And every happening in our great country was not always about you. Your antics have morphed into the ridiculous.

You may be crazy like a fox. But eagle eyes are on you and the snake won't let you tread.

That’s my truth and I’m sticking with it.

Love the "Savior/victim" mentality. It describes perfectly the philosophy of the left, especially some white "folk"(as Obama calls us) who sheepishly indulge the victim crowd. Oh yes, there are saviors of every race and I find the Presidents carefully constructed comments on the Trayvon incident, just that. Indulgent and oh so cleverly masked as race baiting, but not. This could be my child.....
GREAT POST! Extremely thought provoking!! :)N

Someone at my place said "Maybe there will be a HOODIE SUMMIT now"!
Man, imagine Obama AGAIN jumping to conclusions before the facts are known, like he did before his BEER SUMMIT? And why did it take a month before this news was released at all?
And why'd the media post pictures of poor Trayvon so young and wholesome looking when, since then, he's got gold teeth and gangster clothes in pictures? (none of which means he should DIE)
That kid shouldn't have died...GZ should have left him alone to fade into the raining night, but GZ was worried about his neighbors and ...
what a tragedy. For everyone.

Watching Jesse Jackson walking, hooked arms, with the 'crowd' again makes me sick. As if all whites are racists again. $@#(*&@# There are so many, many crimes, black on black, black on white, and Obama never mentions those, does he.
Why doesn't Obama ever talk to young kids, inspiring them, motivating them....? damn

And TM's mother is now getting legal rights to her dead son's name, etc., ...not sure if she plans to get rich or wants to protect it from anyone else using the Obama supports who're tweeting how you can get hoodies at his site, imagine?
We're so screwed in this country.

Carefully constructed comments without a teleprompter guess POTUS is practicing for the debate with those brainiacs Santorum and Romney. So let's see if I have this right..."Black people should want paychecks not foodstamps" is not race baiting but "If I had a son he would look like Trayvon" is race baiting...whatevs I don't try to make sense of the babbling nonsense anymore.

There are unscrupulous people making t-shirts and things with Trayvon Martin's picture. The only way to stop it is to buy the rights to his image. To question the motives of a mother in grief tells more about you than the person you're accusing.

The most telling thing about all of this is the deafening silence from Conservatives until you think you've found something to smear the poor child's reputation.

I'm starting to believe the lefties are right and the term Conservative Christian is an oxymoron.

The cop who arrested Dr. Henry Louis Gates in his own home lied on the police report. I agree the beer summit was a mistake, POTUS should have continued to disparage the officer as the lying scumbag he was.

These incidents will keep happening and cities and states across Amerikka will keep paying out wrongful death suits. If you want to complain about where your tax dollars go maybe you should demand that cops do their jobs so your taxes can pay for what they were meant to. I mention cops specifically because if GZ had spent just 15 minutes cuffed, answering questions and peeing in a cup there would be no protest. The fact that they just waved off someone who already has an assault conviction is why residents of Florida will watch Trayvon's parents split a multi-million dollar settlement. Oh and how does a guy with a record for fighting with a cop get a gun. You see if Cons asked these questions in addition to their concern about hoodies and goldteeth no one would think your racist. Just sayin...

z, the media will always spin the story in their favor. so true, that kid didn't have to die. gz should have left him alone. nice to see you here again!

brooklyn, true, i'm silent on this story cuz i just can't bring myself to jump when the msm tells me too. i confess, it does disappoint me to see you use "kk" in America. shows me where your head is. but on the bright side, at least i know what i can expect from you. maybe it's just me, but i wouldn't live in a place which inspired such contempt in me. call me crazy, but i need some sort of balance to affect my children positively as well as my peers.

Brooklyn, I'm not arguing that the shooting of Trayvon was self-defense or justified, I'm simply saying it wasn't about race. I do think Zimmerman should be arrested and that this incident should be investigated thoroughly, but not because it was a hate crime. I don't think dudes should be harassing people walking down the street just because they suspect something. Even if Zimmerman were attacked by Trayvon, which it sounds like he was, it would be because we all know he was bird dogging and following Trayvon and was told not to. Who knows how Trayvon felt, I'm guessing scared himself. Also, when someone is handing your ass to you for following them, fight back fair, fists with fists...don't pull a gun out and shoot them, they will die and that always sucks no matter the situation. The only way this situation makes any sense is if there was a scuffle for the gun itself, which I believe Zimmerman should have NEVER had. Some neighborhood troll should never have taken it upon himself to confront this young man WITH A GUN. This same type of incident happened in Utah with a father suspecting a neighborhood watch guy of following his daughters, which they told them he was and they both had a gun. It was a shoot out like the old west. One is dead and one is in jail. This is the issue, not race. Gun toting wannabe cops who should be home watching DWTS are trigger happy testosterone tools and should not be following 17 year old kids around who are doing nothing wrong. This is what I see when I look at the situation, certainly don't tell me it is about a hoodie and skin color. And, I could care less about Trayvon's drug use, it it insignificant to this tragedy or the way he was acting at this moment. But let's get this one thing straight, All victims are special, not just the black ones. As for the President, he is the President of all people in America not just women who want birth control and black kids who get killed. Find a way to represent all who experience tragedy or go back to helping all Americans by fixing the economy. :)N

So many thoughts.
I love the way you wrote on. Many sit back and watch, and if we so choose not to play into the victim/savior game, then the message is, 'You better shut the hell up!

@Nic have to say I really appreciated your response. I believe it's about race because it occurs much too often to young black men and there's always silence from the right. It's not a victim's mentality to note that there have been many deaths under suspicious circumstances of black men. I think the reason that the "race problem" will always be with us is so many refuse to acknowledge that there is a problem. Ask yourself, when have you ever heard of a cop shooting a rowdy guy on St. Patty's Day.

Would it really take so much to look at some of these situations and see it from my perspective. A police officer has someone cuffed, face down on the pavement why then does said officer reach for his taser? He mistakenly pulls his gun and shoots and kills a young father. Where is the outrage from the people that think POTUS was somehow excluding white people from his statement on Trayvon Martin? Where is the outrage from Conservative white people? Have you read the comments section on Fox Nation? That's disheartening. I'll stop referring to this country as 'Amerikka' when this country treats my brothers and nephews like taxpayers who've served their country. And for the record that's not victimhood you sense, it's rage. What Amerikka is witnessing is the black people Newt Gingrich and the rest of the right don't acknowledge, educated, homeowners, and solidly liberal displaying justified rage at this happening AGAIN. Yet we should believe we're a post racial society. What I see is a society that can't show a modicum of respect for the president that looks like me.

Maria are your daughters old enough to date? Ever talk to their dates about their experiences?

lyn, so you think men my daughters age can provide a perspective that i'm missing and can't attain from my husband? the answer to your question is no, thankfully. i'm sure they've had male friends who were focused on life's negatives. but they're not likely to bring into my home the kind of kid who wants to impress me with how well he can cry about racism as opposed to sharing his ambitions and passions.
